Default I pay for Sugar, why can't I post?

What is up with this forum?

I am a paying customer using Sugar CRM Pro. But each time I try and make a post to ask a question, I am told my post has to be approved by an admin.

How slow is this forum because of that restriction? This is pretty frustrating.

I fully understand your frustration ... However: it is only for the first 10 posts of new users in the forum. After that posts get into the forum just in seconds ...

Here you find the official statement on this:

Can you maybe append users who are PAYING customers to another group?

I do not like the idea that as a license holder of SugarCRM PRO I have to make 10 posts before my REAL questions can be answered.

In fact this policy encourages spam and slows down support.

I'm a normal forum user as you ... no admin.
Maybe you could ask John Mertic. He is the community manager: SugarCRM Forums - View Profile: jmertic

I find it frustrating as well, but lamentably that's the way the internet has gone. A small number of spamming fools make things so much harder for everyone else.

I'm not so sure about that. Look at StackOverflow and their entire family of sites. They getinordinately more traffic than these forums and they don't resort to moderating every new user's post. You can post immediately there immediately. The lengthy delay ultimately discourages new users from working with Sugar - if it takes days to get feedback on even simple issues it makes you want to look elsewhere. There has to be a better solution than this.

Just wanted to add a couple of notes on the matter at hand...

Definitely understand the frustration, especially if one is in a rush.

Note that as a paying customer you can submit a ticket to SugarCRM technical support staff via their support portal, something the non-paying customers cannot do. In theory this would be a better option for you as there is a guaranteed response time associated with it, etc.

There used to be a forum especially dedicated to paying customers, but I don't see it anymore. I am not sure if that's because I no longer have access to it or if it has been eliminated, but either way, it serves to highlight the point I was going to make about it, which is that it tended to be rather inactive. That makes perfect sense, as statistically, the number of Community Edition users is far greater than the paying user base. Anyway, as a result, paying customers tended to post in the general forums anyway, which is still the case.

Given their popularity with the user community, said forums were often the target of spammers. Very bad at times. Sugar has implemented different measures over time to address this matter, and unfortunately, the monitoring seems to be the most effective of them all.

So, in the end, it is an inconvenience, but overall, a beneficial one for the community at large (paying and non-paying). Likewise, Sugar has shown they are willing to adjust things, so don't be surprised if it changes in the future.

EDIT: Turns out the other forums are indeed still there (missed them earlier), but much to my point, the last time anyone posted in the "Help" section was end of January.
