On-topic? Can posts be moved inside the forums?

I'll confess to being a little confused. If the forum I'm reading is for Announcements Discussion, why do I see bug reports?

My question - can posts be moved by moderators and, if so, is the general population empowered to make recommendations to make the moderators' decision something simple like Approve | Leave it alone | Forward to _________?

To minimize head-scratching, I'd suggest an index of "recently moved" posts to be automatically generated when a moderator finalizes the move operation.

I have a similar technique built into my website so I know it can be done.

Hi carlbro, yes posts can be moved and a redirect link can remain ... it's just a matter of time taken to manage the posts to this level.

What seemed at first like a good idea has not worked out quite the way we had planned. So I'm going to remove the Announcements Discussion forum after moving its threads to the appropriate other forums, like the Help and Installation and Upgrade Help forums.

All threads and posts will be preserved.
