Default Another treadmill question - "A daring bike ride"

Here is another question which is related to a treadmill that I had thought about:

If you again have a treadmill and have a rider who is on a bike which is on the treadmill. The rider is peddling the bike at the same speed as the treadmill but of course in opposite directions. Would the bike and the rider be able to stay up or would the bike and the rider just fall over?

I believe this answers the question. Just substitue the rollers for a treadmill and viola!!

If a gyroscope falls in the forest, and there are no listeners, does it make a sound?

gyroscopes do not require forward momentum to resist change. If you play with one of the powerballs (image below), you will know what I mean.

For that matter, I have known a lot of people that could keep a bike upright even if the wheels are not spinning. Besides, most treadmills have those great handles nowadays.

Seems like Roger should have carried over the 'no Googling' rule.

    Oh....the images...

I totally googled the images. I thought we were not supposed to google for the answer. (which sadly, I did do on the other question).
