Default SugarExchange formal launch planned for mid-September

Hi everybody, we've been busily working on SugarExchange and we still have a few more things to do before we exit the beta phase and go live.

Currently we're planning on a formal launch in mid-September. This will include a full promotional blitz and lots of fanfare. We expect lots of traffic on the SugarExchange site once we go live. Down the road we'll direct more and more traffic from the Sugar user community to SugarExchange.

So, if you're planning to provide content on SugarExchange any time soon and haven't already done so ... now's the time!!

    More soon!

Hi sugarcare, we're finalizing the pricing now but Providers can expect a nominal listing fee for items offered for a charge (items displaying the green "Buy Now" link and thereby utilizing SugarExchange ecommerce capabilities). (Example)

Listings that contain only blue "Download" links (items offered at no charge) will be offered on SugarExchange at no charge to the Provider. (Example)

In either case there will be caps placed on disk space so as to prevent someone from uploading terabytes of data.

Product placements, such as in the Featured Products section on the SugarExchange home page and, soon, within each category, will be provided for a nominal fee as well.

Any listed item(s) must meet listing requirements and may be subject to removal by Sugar at its discretion. Thus, even for items provided at no charge, SugarExchange significantly differs from SugarForge with regard to the stringency of entry and continued participation. This is in keeping with the notion of SugarExchange as a retail storefront of items created and marketed by the Sugar community.

Watch this forum and formal announcements coming soon for more details.

    Thanks,

    Andy
